Aged Medicaid Waiver Program
The Aged Medicaid Waiver program is a service system based on the belief that people age 65 and older with care needs should have choices about the services they receive. After a thorough needs identification evaluation, eligible persons are offered the choice of receiving In-Home, Assisted Living, or Nursing Facility services.
Eligibility
Persons who are age 65 or older may be eligible for waiver services if they:
- Are eligible for Medicaid
- Agree to participate in an evaluation to determine their care needs and choose to accept support services
- Have needs which are determined through the evaluation which would require assistance in the nursing facility setting
- Can safely be served at home or in an assisted living facility at a cost not more than Medicaid would pay for nursing home care
Covered Services
The Aged Medicaid Waiver program allows Medicaid dollars to be used to pay for the following services:
- Home Care/Chore
Includes necessary housekeeping activities, meal preparation, essential shopping, and supervision. - Adult Day Health Care
A structured program of activities in a supervised setting outside the client's home which provides for health and social needs. - Independence Skills Management
Training in daily living skills, home management, and use of special equipment. - Respite Care
Temporary relief for the usual caregiver from the stress of providing continuous care. - Transportation
To community resources identified in the Plan of Services and Support. - Assisted Living
An array of support services provided in a home environment. - Assistive Technology & Supports
Specialized medical equipment, supplies, and home modification which will allow the client to increase their independence. - Home Delivered Meals
Provides a meal prepared outside the client's home and delivered to the client's residence. - Nutrition Services
Education and counseling relating to nutritional needs. - Personal Emergency Response System
A communication device connected through your telephone to access emergency help.
The Northeast Nebraska Area Agency on Aging accepts referrals from all sources. A visit is scheduled to meet with all eligible referrals. During the visit, the Services Coordinator and the client determine the needed services and support to keep the client at the highest level of independence possible.
