SMP - Empowering Seniors to Prevent Healthcare Fraud

The goal of the SMP program is to empower seniors to prevent health care fraud through outreach and education. It is composed of staff and volunteers and is supported in part by the Administration on Aging.

The Department of Health and Human Services estimated the Medicare program loses billions of dollars each year through fraud, error and abuse.

The majority of healthcare providers are honest, yet fraud can and does occur. If you have questions about the accuracy of your healthcare charges, contact your healthcare provider such as physician, hospital or equipment vendor. If you are not satisfied with the response or suspect fraud, contact the Nebraska SMP.
